Early Sunday morning --2 good residents, notified Fairways Watch, of some valuable items left behind our front brick wall!

The items included --a Dell lap top, with all accessories--security ID tags for a government contractor, and an assortment, thought to be many papers related to engineering projects.

 Fairways Watch secured the items and called for a deputy to meet us.

 Upon arrival the officer was able to obtain a cell number, belonging to the name on the security tags.

 After the number was called-- the owner ,answered--he was just waking up and did not know that his car had been burglarized!

 The owner lives in south Florida,--and was visiting friends, near by in Avalon Park.

 The good deputy got the address of where the victim was staying and arranged to meet him and return his property.

Folks , I hate to say this--but--our near by Avalon Park is becoming the ''auto burglary capitol'' of Orange county!

The officer agreed that once the theives seen their loot--they discarded it--due to the possible digital,GPS tracking--the thieves were probably headed back to ''crime hills''

Fairways Watch,is not always in agreement ,with many of the actions taken by HTA---but with this investment & move---I agree in it completely!

Pictured here are the two basic controls of the new electro-magnetic lock systems that have been installed at the pool gates and club house doors.

This modern,digital system ,has been under construction, since the first of this year.

Since mid-July, HTA has been issuing access cards to ,legal,qualified residents. YES--there has been some ''petty bitching ''--by some single residents, living alone. Some of these folks want more than one access card.---WHY?

 We would hope that strict control of these access cards , would prevent some of our previous problems.

 CASE IN POINT---The frequent enterings of outside, abusive,disruptive non residents,at the pools--also the past improper ''business dealings'' around the pools involving outside visitors.--These activities have been noted by law enforcement and photos.

Recently HTA has installed new revamped pool rule

 signs.---I personally see the new signs to be a vast improvement over the old.

 EXAMPLE---We have had complaints by residents about --younger [believed to be] non residents--playing loud ''music'' on radios!--The new rule states that

''ALL RADIOS AND SIMILAR DEVICES, MUST BE USED WITH HEADPHONES''

Recently, we contacted Priscilla, with a couple of basic questions-- her answer is copied below

I appreciate your support and this is what the residents have been asking for .  To answer some of your questions:

1) Yes I agree that no resident needs more than one card and per the letter, each resident will have one card, maximum of two per household
2) The system will remain active at all times.  You will need your card to access the buildings and pools at all times.  They will work between the hours of 7am and 11pm.  After hours they will not work
3) The pad mechanism is made for both cards and numbers however, we will only use it with the cards.  No numbers will be assigned.

This man was a former registered resident,--before being RECENTLY evicted by his family.

The warrant is related to probation violations. 

 His most recent arrest was for assault on a law enforcement officer---he has a history of violence !

  THE MOST LIKELY AREA, FOR HIM TO FREQUENT, MAY BE THE WARWICK HILLS AREA.

Early this morning,--a good observing resident, saw the above pictured dangerous ''debris'' on our roadway!
  These screws & etc. were found ''sprinkled''-- at the Spyglass speed bump!
 Another good resident, found similar screws  items down on Pebble Beach,-- near Troon. This other debris was also placed near a speed bump!
  One might believe that these items were purposely left to flatten our residents tires!
Another resident suffered a flat tire!
  A QUESTION TO ALL---IF ASKED---WHERE WOULD YOU GO TO GET SOME OF THIS MOSTLY USED DEBRIS ITEMS?---WHO WOULD HAVE POSSESSION OF OLD SCREWS & WATER VALVES?

THIS PAST ''APRIL FOOLS DAY'' WEEK-END WAS A SAD TRAGIC TIME FOR OUR COMMUNITY!---The events and areas affected are listed below in order. 
 #1--Friday March 31--RV parked in driveway,being loaded for trip--vehicle was ''egged''!
#2--March 31--2 tires slashed on Carnoustie Ct!
#3--March 31--2 more tires slashed on Pebble Beach!
#4-- April 1--2 RV tires slashed & ''egged'' in ''secure'' locked area of RV compound!
#5--April 1--The COPS car and the Fairways van was ''egged''!
#6--an unconfirmed report of 2 tires damaged on a work van, off Pebble Beach!

All of the above is preventable--IF--we had a management structure that truly cared about the residents!

OK--SO--I MAY NOT BE THE BRIGHTEST LIGHT ON THE TREE AND HAVE A BIG MOUTH-- but I ask what could be done to help our NON--SECURED community?

I SAY FOR A STARTER--A COMMON SENSE GATE SECURITY SYSTEM!----OH YEAH --HTA SAID IT'S OUR FAULT--BECAUSE WE VOTED AGAINST THEIR--''DESIGNED TO FAIL'' vote!

NOT SO---I personally believe that HTA does not want ANY MORE restriction for the entrance--our gates have been broken for over 3 weeks!

 About 2 years ago--the Fairways had over19 documented burglaries within a 6 month period!--HTA DID NOTHING UNTIL WFTV CHANNEL 9 came into the park and did a damning story on the recorded crimes!

  Then --HTA did what should have been done much earlier-----They hired off-duty Sheriff deputies to come in and roam the park at odd hours, with their small blinking red and blue, cruise lights!

 GUESS WHAT?-- all the crazy crime crap stopped--pronto!

 YES---IT DOES COST MONEY TO BRING SOME OF THE EXTRA GOOD GUYS IN HERE!---BUT IT MAY COST HTA MORE, IF SOME MORE BAD TV COVERAGE COMES THEIR WAY--IT MAY BE HARDER TO SELL THEIR $100 K trailers WITH THE $700+ LOT RENTS!

  All of the above crimes were reported properly to OCSO!

Yes--this was decided by HTA after a PRIVATE VOTE COUNT!---There were over 400 votes returned--about 250 for and some 100 plus against!

BUT--we learned that it would require more than 500 votes to pass!---news to many of us!

We really don't know how many people live in here--due to the''CIA & Fairways  PRIVACY ACT''

The latest destruction of our gate is the OUTBOUND gate--hit at least twice lately from the inbound traffic!

  It seems that a repair company quick fix--- cut off part of the gate to give clearance for the outbound vehicles.

IT IS TIME FOR A NEW BEGINNING

  The sunrise over the second fairway tells of the beginning of a new day.We also need a new beginning in our thinking about the security of our community.
 For the last four months, Fairways Watch has been working on different security options,that could be custom tailored to the needs of the Fairways. First and foremost was the cost concern of all systems considered. 
  First option up was to put ''Barney Fife'', back on duty in the existing guard house. This sounds simple enough, right ?
WRONG---Due to current regulations,a new enclosure would be required, complete with plumbing and air conditioning. The guesstamated cost of the structure, with sewer line is $30-50K. Then we have to pay ''Barney'' His cost for night time only would be around $5500 per month--24 hrs would be a whopping $11500 per month. The annual cost would be a staggering $140,000 per year !
  So--as the old engineer said ''BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARDS'' We had heard of other communities going away from the private guards, and changing to live,interactive, REMOTE MONITORING. Some of the communities named came as a surprise. Heathrow, and Windemere, were among the more recognizable names.
 Over the past four months, Fairways Watch has met as a small committee including both residents and law enforcement officers. During the four months, we have interviewed eight different security systems vendors, who all came and visited the Fairways.Included in this same time frame, we also did detailed action studies and vehicle counts at our gates.
 The results of our work is somewhat surprising. We can have a good dependable system, with 24/7 live agent remote monitoring, complete with  ''no tailgating'' gates.---A bar code reading entrance for residents [no more clickers] --Also included is a data base for regular visitors-- BUT-- most important of all is the live agent greeting by camera, with the recording and identifying system for those coming in through the visitors lane.
  This system would reuse the present guard house and the new brick phone enclosure, would become the greeting camera kiosk.
  On a special note, Fairways Watch took Priscilla to see a similar system in operation in the nearby Avalon area. Priscilla seemed receptive to this different type of operation.
 NOW--- for the biggest surprise of all--- the system described above would only cost about ONE THIRD of the amount ''Barney'' would cost, with his amenities!---Perhaps its time for Barney to retire.
 This post is only a very preliminary look at our findings. There is much more information to come. We are sending a complete detailed  nine page report to Hometown America in Chicago for Mr Brauns consideration.
 If things continue to move in the expected right direction, we will hold special Fairways Watch meetings for ALL homeowners to answer the many questions that are expected to arise.  Watch for notices of meeting.  Fifty-one percent (51%) of homeowners approval is what's required after we get Chicago's buy-in to the Proposal.

A FUGITIVE HAS BEEN ARRESTED IN OUR FAIRWAYS!

GOT-CHA!----YEP--THAT IS WHAT THE SHERIFF'S REPORT SAYS!

Back on December 28,--we posted a copy of a warrant notice for a Rene Smoots that had been living at Torrey Pines Ct. The charges and warrant stemmed from theft and bail jumping,---[scroll back]
 After a run over over a month--she was found once again on Torrey Pines!--She was just another member of the Fairways  ''whoeleos'' in here. 
  SO--THE GOOD GUYS GOT HER AGAIN!
  Maybe a judge can keep her downtown--we do not need her in here!
 The deputies ''cuffed'' her and took her to 33rd street--at 11;55 AM last Friday!

THE ''NEW YEAR CRAZIES'' ARE ACTING UP!

SOMETIMES IT SEEMS THAT A LITTLE TOO MUCH ''ADULT BEVERAGES''-- CAN BRING OUT THE CRAZIES AND THE ''AZZ-HOLES''
 Last midnight, as our new year began---one of my neighbors house,on Carnoustie Ct--- heard an unusual noise, in one of the bedrooms!---Upon investigation it was found that the ceiling was damaged with a hole showing!--Upon further looking --a bullet was found near by!
 OCSO was called by 911---2 units quickly responded, and did a full investigation.---The officers determined that the weapon used was a 45cal.  ---the officers took the bullet as evidence.
  It is a fair bet--judging by the trajectory--the bullet could have been fired from the outside development near the RV compound!--that area is of a higher elevation, than the victims house!
 The deputies said that stray-bullets are not uncommon!---GEE--THATS GOOD TO HEAR!

ONE OTHER EXHIBITION OF AN IDIOT!

Last evening--my wife and I went out to eat early to avoid the crowd.---My wife was driving--[I had my one annual usual new years 'bloody mary']---We were waiting ,to turn in to the park at 5;40PM--yellow light flashing--west bound traffic was heavy.

 THEN----a large silver pickup, behind--started blowing the horn!---no way could any vehicle cross into the park, with the existing flow of traffic--until there was a reasonable break!

 After we got past the gate--I asked my wife to drive exactly the 15 MPH speed limit--- To no surprise---here came the big, silver, crew-cab,rear tinted windows--roaring past--over the office area speed bumps!----Only the lord knows what her speed was!---YES---it appeared to be a''lady'' driver!

  I was curious to see what house, that idiot was going to.--- It did not take long for the ''speed demon'' to know that we were trying to follow!

 Common sense dictates--that if we followed at their speed,--we would be as guilty and stupid as that damn fool. 

However --we were able to locate the truck, in a driveway--with the automatic lights just going off.The driver was already in the house!

Do to the fact that I have no pictures or other proof---I can say no more!

My question is---Was it ''Jim Beam'' or Jack Daniels'' driving?

RECENTLY--OUR COMMUNITY HAS BEEN BESIEGED WITH UNREGISTERED,--UN-APPROVED ''MOVE-IN''
''RESIDENTS'' AND ''SQUATTERS''!
Featured below are 2 classic, recent examples!

This 48 year old ''lady'', and her husband--moved into our community,around March of 2016 on Torrey Pines Ct.--Fairways Watch and numerous other concerned residents notified the office of their unusual presence.--They professed to be ''CARE TAKERS'' of a very senior ,impaired, resident. These two people became rather obvious, by conducting a large,continuing garage sale of the owners goods,---and advertising a''cheap'' air conditioning repair service.  Per court records--during this time--they were having numerous law enforcement encounters--listing their address as 1818 Torrey Pines Ct!   Even a simple name check at that time--- our management could have learned of many FELONY arrests -- their arrest records went all the way back into the ''90"s !  FOLKS--EVEN A BLIND SQUIRREL CAN FIND A NUT ONCE IN AWHILE!  Then---back in November--the couple disappeared--We believe that this was do to the issuing of a warrant for her arrest --involving theft and bail jumping! These folks were in our community for 6 months---doing what?--- only God knows! ANOTHER CURRENT EXAMPLE! Down on the Warwick Hills circle--   A whole family moved in with 2 very small VERY ''active'' children!--- with another senior ,wanting a caregiver.--  These folks were driving a loud vehicle, speeding with fraudulent  plates. These young folks were constantly on the run--24/7--with no evidence of any ''normal'' employment.  OCSO was dispatched to this residence over 10 times in the past 9 months!--911 calls were for everything--from fights to drug thefts!  At long last HTA sent letters of violation---and they finally left WE NEVER WERE ABLE TO IDENTIFY THESE FOLKS--I BET IT WOULD HAVE BEEN INTERESTING!   IT IS MY HUMBLE OPINION--THAT THESE UN-KNOWN --UN AUTHORIZED PEOPLE--- PRESENT A SERIOUS SECURITY PROBLEM! WE NOT ONLY NEED  GATE SECURITY--WE NEED RESIDENT MOVE-IN CHECKS FROM THE OFFICE!  I WOULD SUGGEST THAT THE HTA ''COMPLIANCE OFFICER''--COULD ALSO CHECK UP ON THINGS OTHER THAN ''PALM TREES AND A LITTLE MOLD''! FOLKS--WE NEED EVERYONE,S  HELP TO REPORT UNREGISTERED PEOPLE MOVING IN HERE!

 The 2 persons in question have left our community--possibly of this warrant being issued.

BURGLARY IN OUR COMMUNITY!

FOLKS--OUR HOPED FOR BURGLARY FREE YEAR--ENDED ON EARLY THIS SUNDAY MORNING!

Within the 14300 block of Spyglass St.--A home was hit by forced entry through an unlocked window. At first glance--it was believed that a pry bar had damaged the door jam. The sheriffs , after further examination , the officer believed that the burglar or multiple thieves, went in through an unlocked side window!

  A strong box was broken open--but not taken--only the contents were missing. The reported losses were mainly jewelry and a semi-matic pistol. The silver finished pistol, also had ammunition stolen with it.

  The deputy said ----''at this time of the year---burglaries, like this are rampant!'

  There were 2 nice looking bicycles found in the back yard of the victims house. The officer speculated that --the thieves could have ridden rode into the park on the 2 possibly stolen bikes---then not being able to ride the bikes, with the loot---THEY WALKED OUT OF OUR PARK!

WOULD NOT A GUARD AT THE GATE HELP?

YEAH---I THINK SO!

  Our beloved neighborhood is no different from  some other areas.----YES we have criminal activities as others around us.---It is the obligation of all residents to aid and advise our law enforcement agencies and our HTA management of known violations.
  CASE IN POINT----Lately we are experiencing unusual activities, on the west side of the Fairways.
  The defined area concerns the gate area,--Inverary Dr,--and into the Warwick Hills area.
  Fairways Watch and numerous concerned residents, have noted 2 different van type vehicles,--speeding--with loud exhaust,--involving numerous hazardous habits of operation.
  These observations also includes ,--the possible endangerment of 2 very small children,--believed to be living in the Warwick hills area!
 Two small children--male and female have been seen and reported as being transported in the vans,inside the park, with out restraints,-- reportedly hanging out of vehicle windows.
  Our local management has been advised and has been given all known facts ,reports, and pictures.
  Mrs Herrick has stated that action has been taken through the first step of legal procedures.
 The question that arises is---WHY ALL OF THIS DRIVING ACTIVITY?--- AND WHY THE SMALL CHILDREN ARE IN THIS COMMUNITY?
We ask all residents to keep an eye on the described areas.Any violations should be reported DIRECTLY to Priscilla. Fairways Watch would be appreciative to be advised also.

  UPDATE & DETAILS OF ABOVE!
 Shortly after this post was published ,--yesterday---ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE AT ONE OF THE ''HOUSES OF INTEREST''----1--2--3--4 Orange County Sheriff had 4 units dispatched to 2025 Warwick Hills circle--dispatch was for ''PHYSICAL FIGHTING''---the 4 units were sent due to the threat of violence!

MORE OF PAST HISTORY---There are 2 vans mentioned above--a dark blue Pacifica and a silver Honda.--These two vehicles have been reported speeding ,[one with fraudulent plates] numerous times with 2 very small children on board ,unrestrained!
 The deputies destroyed the paper plates from the blue van.
  It seems that these vans, run 24/7---WHY?
 In the past 8 months---OCSO units have responded to the above address over 10 times. Some of the obtained reports involved the use of heroin--and the theft of prescription drugs!---A deputys report also verifies that a young 24 year old--convicted felon HAD been living at this address!!
 FOLKS--- ALL OF THIS WAS REPORTED IN DETAIL WITH SHERIFF REPORTS ,PICTURES, AND PERSONAL OBSERVATIONS---To Priscilla---In the past week--a large paper envelope of information and proof positive pictures and police report copies-- all taken to the front desk of the office!
 Our wonderful Sector 2 deputies have done and are doing, everything they can to quell this mess!Our law enforcement of vehicle activities are very limited, due to the private road laws.
 Yesterday-- when the officers were leaving--I talked to one of the ranking deputies.----They had a detailed conversation and meeting with the ''idiots'' involved.
Law enforcement officers sometimes refer this kind of talks as a ''COME TO JESUS MEETING''---ALL LEGAL THREATS AND PRESSURES ARE BROUGHT TO BARE---On the perpetrators!
 The officer said & I quote with his permission---We ---all of the residents need to be the''SQUEAKING WHEELS''
  He asked--who let them live in here?--answer- the stupid homeowners!--His next question--Who let the homeowners do that?--answer--our management---Next he said--Do not stop with the manager--GO AFTER THE OWNER OR THE PRESIDENT!
 The officer said several times--THE RESIDENTS NEED TO KEEP BITCHING AND BEING A LOUD SQUEAKING WHEEL!

WHAT IS A ''WHOELIO''?

  Please do not feel badly,if you do not what a ''WHOELIO'' is!
 This is a word that the writer of this blog conjured up 
relating to the unknown, unregistered, visitors and residents--living in our community!
 Fairways Watch, tries to spend an average of 15-18 hours a week ,out in the community. We are normally out from 7AM, on all streets until around 8;30AM in a truck--then , in the evenings,out on our golf cart, at different hours.
 Be advised that we are not the only people watching an observing.-- We have numerous good watchers.---In our travels about our community,there are vehicles as well as persons ,that do not seem to fit the typical ''Fairways profile''!
  YES---I used reference to a term that some may find offensive.-----Profiling---Below is a picture,taken recently,that exemplifies, someone that does seem a little out of place in our ''over 55''community!

Several evenings ago,--We seen this 20--30 year old skate boarder ,come through our often open,--inviting gate---He was dressed a little odd--with an old style ''aviator cap''--ear phones on,and awkwardly,moving along on a skate board.--- This person went to a house on Pebble Beach,--that has a history of OCSO service calls.

It is our experience, not to question these types of individuals--they are not always forthcoming. 

It is best to quietly follow people such as this and make note of the address that they go to. After we have an obvious  address---we advise the management with details and pictures, if we have photos.

  We have no authority to make any inquiry in matters such as this--ONLY THE HTA MANAGEMENT HAS THAT AUTHORITY!

 In cases such as this--the required time to call for the sheriff  for a suspicious is prohibited.

  The following morning--we seen this same person leaving the same house on Pebble Beach--going up the street ,leaving the park west bound. All of this information,along with this picture was sent to Priscilla.

 Hopefully ,our management, followed up on this report,and resolved any questions of approval and park registration!

PROBLEMS FROM THE OUTSIDE!

Fairways Watch has received numerous reports of a speeding ORANGE DODGE CHARGER! [similar to picture]
 The car is regularly seen, early in the mornings and late afternoons.--- The most frequent reporting is on and around Warwick Hills Dr. One resident was almost ran over at 5;30am, putting out trash on garbage day!
 With the help of several Warwick Hills residents---we have obtained the following collaborated information.
 Around 5-6 am every workday morning---The orange Dodge comes to a certain home ,on the circle. 
 A young female driver''drops off'' a small child,possibly for the purpose of ''daycare''
 After the child is left at the known house---The orange Dodge car roars off --in a ridiculous manner, with exhaust and tire noise.
   WHY?---WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOR?
 Earlier today, Fairways Watch, sent a detailed narrative of this repeated ''fiasco''.with the known house physical address!
 At this writing ----Priscilla responded and will let the people involved know!---If it continues---advise Priscilla

OUR NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

THE FAIRWAYS NIGHT OUT--Will be held Tuesday October 4. The informal gathering ,will be from 7 until 9 PM, At our new Masters!
  Our HOA is working to have some sandwich ''food snacks'' from our local Pulix store. Upon a written request from our HOA, --Publix ,graciously donated a gift certificate to help cover our costs for snack sandwiches.---THANK YOU PUBLIX--you are appreciated!
     Some residents have suggested ,to bring additional ''POT LUCK'' dishes.----This sounds like a wonderful idea!---As an example ,--we will bring an old recipe orange jello, with sour cream desert.
  Other suggestions,--maybe potato or macaroni salad.-
deserts of any kind,-- All  of your suggestions and contributions will be appreciated.
 COME ON FOLKS--THROW OUT YOUR THOUGHTS.
 Folks ---this is a mix and mingle type get together. Residents will have a first hand opportunity to talk with some of the finest law officers and first responders,---anywhere in our great country!
 We plan on ''FIRING UP'' our new fire pit. ---Many of us has never seen it in operation.
  I am sending, both Sheriff Demmings, and Captain Garrison a personal invitation,--to join us around the fire pit.
 Please folks,--plan to attend to show our respect and admiration for  our first line of defense---THEY NEED OUR SUPPORT NOW--MORE THAN EVER!

FOUR WHEEL PREDATORS!

Many of the Fairways residents enjoy and appreciate ,some of the many unlisted amenities that we have living among us.----We make reference to the many species of                                                                                                                 beautiful wildlife, around-- and in our community.

SADLY ,EARLY THIS MORNING--2 OF OUR BEAUTIFUL ''AFLAC'' PEKIN DUCKS WERE LITERALLY SLAUGHTERED BY A ''STUPID 

AZZ'' --NON -DRIVING IDIOT!!

 The remains of the carcasses, leads to believe that the non-flying birds were struck and ran over,by a vehicle ,far in excess of the NEW posted 15 MPH!

Many times--we slow down or stop for the protected SandHill cranes.----Why not the smaller unprotected, defenseless creatures?

Many of us , go out in the evenings ,with the purpose of just watching, some of Gods more curious and precious creatures. 

 The Pekin ducks are very trusting with humans--at times they are can be almost like pets.

This breed of ducks are domesticated and can not fly or move very quickly.

AN UNRELATED EVENT

Early this AM--around 7;30--Fairways watch--witnessed the following----We were stopped at the Kingsmill stop sign at Inverary

Very quickly-- came a small red Ford Focus,up Inverary--headed for the gate.---Their speed was estimated at far above the 15 MPH limit! There was no decrease in speed or brake lights,--as the car roared through the stop sign at Pebble Beach!----ADIOS YOU OLD FARTS!

 I recognized the driver as an under 55 years of age,registered female resident that lives on Pine Valley.

 I have gotten other negative comments of her ''stupid azz'' driving habits!

SO-- WHAT CAN WE DO?

Randy and I have cussed and discussed ,some of the ''driving fools'' in here many times.---The main problem is ---there is no legal means of enforcement for common sense driving ,in our troubled  community!

 I will attempt this---Fairways Watch owns a small 

''portable dash video cam'', --It can be mounted on my golf cart or truck.---Over a year ago--Randy and I used it up around the gate, during the burglary crisis.

 We did get some positive results of walk ins, even at night.

 Possibly---if we can get a few videos of some crazies, 

driving in here--it might help!
