The main objectives of this venture, was to not only provide coverage of security issues of the Fairways, but to also ''control'' some of the outlandish stories and fables that routinely circulate ,in the community.
At the end of the last post, we made reference to a ''rumor'' circulating about another recent under the floor, ''rat burglary ''. The rumor story was about a major theft. Some versions of this story had a large property loss,---OCSO -----involvement,---- guns,---- house damage, a chase and on and on.----The rumor was spinning out of control.---- Fairways Watch went to the ''horses mouth''---the resident involved.In the residents words [paraphrasing]----they said
Early Wednesday morning Mach 18 at 2 AM, the Troon St resident was awakened by a "BUMP--BUMP'' sound near their bed room wall. The resident, immediately, got up ,turned on a light,---went outside, --[not recommended]---and walked all around the outside perimeter of the home. When the resident came to their bedroom wall area, they found 2 of the 16'' square skirting blocks pulled out ,laying on the ground.----Thus the source of the'' Bump__Bump'' sound. There was no sighting of any one!--- no chase-no damage--911 WAS NOT CALLED.-----Hopefully this case is closed.
IS THIS A SERIOUS MATTER?-----IT DAMN SURE IS!---Just because the ''rat burglar'' plan was foiled, this time does not lessen the seriousness of the threat. We have asked for and are receiving ,increased OCSO uniform patrols. Early this AM we stopped and talked to a young deputy, that was driving around over in the Warwick Hills area.---As always, we thanked him as he went on his way.
STAY ALERT--WE UNDERSTAND THAT SEVERAL ''HANDY MEN'' ARE INSTALLING ,SECURITY SCREENS OVER THE RETURN AIR RUNS.--IT'S A GOOD THOUGHT!

Hi Bill,
I played golf with a man on Wednesday who is considering buying a home here. He is good friends with a notable resident, yet all he could talk about was the rampant crime in the Fairways and the growing fear and hysteria.
He seemed disinclined to believe me, a resident, that, all things considered, the Fairways is currently a safe neighborhood.
But, his comments got me thinking...
The FBI's current reported national property-crime rate is about 2,750 per 100,000 inhabitants (citizens)… or 2.75%… rounded up to 2.8%
Have you calculated the property crime rate in the Fairways?
Assuming we have around 2,000 residents, of all kinds, to stay below the national average we'd have to report fewer than 56 property crimes a year. Twenty eight would put us at half the national rate.
And, yes I understand victims are victims and their pain transcends stats. Still, statistics help us establish benchmarks.
Ho do you think we compare against the national average?

Agreed for a "Gated Community" supposed we should not have going on what is here, keep us informed Bill.
Geez Carpenter what a great thinker you are (NOT) we are not out in the real world we are in our own small community not the outside world we did not have this many problems until a certain person took over running and I use the term loosely as far as running goes.
My feelings exactly we really need a new puppet in the front office this one has her strings all tangled up, and needs to be living her with the rest of us underlings.
It wasn't a bad question and it didn't deserve your knee-jerk responses. I guess your happy that the park is getting a reputation on the outside. That means even lower classes moving in. How are you going to get the park manager fired unless you have the facts. Crime is up, let's prove it. And, what to we do about the people who live hear legally who we think is the cause of the recent crime wave.

There is no "KNEE JERK RESPONSES" as you put it we all live in the real world it seems to me that you are the one that is dreaming, the reports for service from the county bear it all out, read and heed before you speak, all that is written here is backed up by FACT !!
Bill (I mean anon 8:47) I know you won't publish this because your cop talk gave you away but since you have all the FACTS on the reports for service calls why not share them to help make The Fairways safer.
Crime has gotten out of hand in The Fairways, even snow birds are now thinking about not coming back because we all know none of us are safe anymore, drunken driving and speeding are now the least of our problems so shouldn't FACTS about the big increase in crime wave be used against the lazy arrogant park manager.

Way to answer Bill in reference to 11:51 AM I know that it was not your post because it was mine and it wasn't COP TALK because I did that post because the facts on this forum are only backed up by truth and not speculation Bill will not post anything unless he has facts to back up what he writes and all calls for service can be obtained from the county people should be afraid because this TRAILER PARK and that is what it is becoming are true and it all boils down to management of this "GATED COMMUNITY" and her own self esteem policies and not caring for residents at all PERIOD.
