IT WAS 19---NOW IT IS 20!

IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO BELIEVE ---BUT---VERY EARLY THIS AM,--THE THIEVES STRUCK YET AGAIN ON THE 2000 BLOCK OF PORT MARNOCK!

A VERY NICE, WELL KEPT ''SNOW BIRD'' HOME WAS ENTERED AND BURGLARIZED. Contact with the owner was attempted by OCSO, but at last report ,contact had not been made. The deadbolt was not completely in the recessed locked position. The ''jimmy'' of the handle latch lock was fairly easy. Door frame damage was slight.
As in all others --drawers were dumped and a mess made. Losses have yet to be determined.
Our community has been inundated with OCSO patrol units in the past week. There was a sheriff's unit in the park at the time of this crime. Three additional units responded, after the 911 call. Some alert neigbors noticed the front door open. the thieves exited out the back door.

UNBELIEVABLE

The thief is amongst us. Thanks to Priscilla for not doing those background checks and letting young people live here.

A Deputy was just patrolling in the park at 5pm. Great to see!

Not a penny for the gate security and the vote is NO they already live her and will continue until some one gets KILLED hope fully not a resident what a pair they have VOTE NO.

I won't commit to any more money if Priscilla Herrick continues to work here, if your reading this Hometown Chicago. Get rid of her and then we'll talk.

We dont know for sure that they live here! Perhaps someone in here is working with someone out there! And since its in the newspaper now, maybe some other scum bags will want to come in here to try their luck and find a home to rob. And we've announced how easy it is to get in here and burglarize homes.!
Put anybody at the gate!

We really need to quit telling these scum bags everything we are doing to catch these bums. In my opinion these burglaries are more of a dare to our residents. They are laughing at us as we post this info for all to see. Giving them there 15 minutes of fame. I realize we are keeping the residents informed, but we are also giving the robbers publicity. All the attendants in the world are not going to stop this internal burlary crap. On another subject, does anyone know anything about our new compliance officer. ? ? ? ? ?

To the lower than low life women and men who ARE among us.....have you no conscious? Do you know right from wrong??
More guns are being purchased by the residents and you and your pack just might get killed or crippled. Your luck is running out!
Again. ....do you know RIGHT from WRONG???
Tick tock, tick tock you're luck is running out.

To whom it may concern, I like to know who to contact so I could help out and do my part as a resident. I can't sit back and expect someone else to fix this problem we are having here. Please get back to me. Thanks.

It appears right now, the Neighborhood watch is being done on a rotating basis by Bill and two others. I have volunteered a million times, as others have. but as of yet, havent heard a thing. I guess the three of them think they can handle it. I think we need to go back to the Block Captains, as we are all aware, that these Burglaries are NOT all in one area. Not sure why it takes so long to have a organizational meeting with the residents who have asked, practically begged to assist, and No answers. Let's all get it together and WORK together. THis is too large of an issue for 3 golf carts to be handling this

Anonymous and Unknown: First of all, we now have our list of names together and will schedule something this week. Second, it's a lot more than just "riding" around. It's going out late at night (from 8pm on), down every street and the golf cart paths, shining spotlights on the side and back of homes (that you can) looking for movement, open windows or doors, people walking around, open skirting, noises, pools, etc. This is only part of what we do nightly, rain or shine. It's a dedication and obligation you are taking on and you must be dependable, prepared (cell phone, light, etc.)and willing to do what's necessary. This and much more will be discussed so there is no doubt as to your duties and actions to be taken if you see or hear something. Everyone can have a place to help, but not everyone will have the "lights" since we have only 3 at this time with more on the way. Patrolers, spotters, Block Captains, and eyes are needed on a regular basis and will be scheduled so all will have some time off. It's a real, unpaid job with no glory, and has to be approached as such, not just when you want to show up. With this at the very least in mind, if you don't feel you can do this we understand. Just let us know when we get ahold of you. Looking forward to all of you joining us!

Sorry, but we can't very well respond to those that remain unknown or anonymous. It's all about stepping up as a team. Be seen, be heard, and make a difference.

We have noticed that several residents have recently installed a security system with ADT.
We called ADT to get some information and we were told that ADT will come out and have a security system installed within 2 days at No Installation fee and only approx. 35.00 a month for 24 hour monitoring service. They are aware of the problems we are having at Fairways and are offering a FREE month of service for every referral to both the current customer and the new referral. If you notice that your neighbor has an ADT sign on their lawn you may want to talk to your neighbor and let them know you are interested in getting it too. You will both benefit from the free monthly charge. Just mention your neighbors name when you call.

And to add to the comments about paying for a security guard at the front gate.
HTA should just be asking for a flat monthly price at a set $5.00 per month. Why would it be subject to an annual increase like the lot rent? And if we only have a guard at the front gate what would stop any hoodlums from getting in other ways like jumping over the fence somewhere other than the front gate area or sneaking in through the woods from the golf course?
Also would it cause a back up coming into the park when turning off of 50 at the light?
And lastly WHY haven't the bricks around the keypad tower been fixed yet?
This is the first thing that they should have allotted money for before starting the renovation for the Masters Club. This looks so low life and embarrassing as the first impression when coming into the park. Isn't Billy Casper embarrassed and ashamed of having HIS golf course entrance look so shabby.

And a BIG thank you to Bill and Randy for ALL that you doing in giving your time and energy into helping us all.
You are OUR HEROES!

I ran into a rather head scratching scenario this morning in the front office. I went in to purchase 2 new transponders for the front gate. I am quite a bit younger than the minimum age needed to live in The Fairways but was asked if I lived in the park. I said "No but my Mother does". The woman behind the desk asked me for her name but NEVER ONCE ASKED FOR MY ID OR EVEN BOTHERED TO HAVE ME CONFIRM HER ADDRESS. For all intents and purposes, I was a complete stranger buying access to the front gate. In my opinion, the front office dropped the ball big time when they didn't take an extra minute to confirm my identity. If I were planning to commit crimes inside, I had easy access with my shiny new transponders. With all the robberies going on in there, the front office should have been on HIGH ALERT when a complete stranger walked in to buy these transponders. Maybe the front office needs a bit more common sense and/or training.

Did anyone else just hear the report on Channel 9 news at 11 that a gun was stolen in the most recent robbery here at The Fairways?

RE 11;24
THIS EVIDENTLY WAS A ''FOLLOW UP' ON THE MAY 16 BURGLARY ON WARWICK HILLS. THE STOLEN GUN WAS REPORTED AT THAT TIME IN THIS BLOG.---LOOKS LIKE CHANNEL 9 IS WATCHING THE FAIRWAYS. THE GUN NOTE WAS PROBABLY PICKED UP OUT OF THE EARLIER POLICE REPORT!

cjk and these are the people who will be gate attendants I think not

There are other security home monitoring systems other than ADT. You should all do you due diligence and research what is right for you. There are others that are wireless and battery backup and in case of power outage or a burglar cuts your phone line and power line. Just mentioning this so you know there is more out there than ADT.

The office told me they were waiting for the insurance company to settle the brick code gate unit at the front entrance. That was about 3 weeks ago. I told her it was embarrassing for me. My sister visited and was considering buying here. That is a big no now.

Bill,

Any word on what the police activity was on Inveraray and Kingsmill around 9:45 pm last night?

Unknown said...

RE 9;07
THERE WAS NO ENTRY IN THE ''CALLS FOR SERVICE'' DISPATCH SITE
IT COULD BE ONE OF TWO REASONS---A DOMESTIC ISSUE [they are not shown in dispatch]---OR SOME OF THE EXTRA OCSO PRESENCE THAT WE HAVE IN HERE.----SO FAR THIS AM --ALL IS WELL.

to whomever wrote about Billy Casper being embarrassed about the front gate....it's NOT their group that lives here it's the residents....they are only here for as long as their contract...if your so worried about them then why don't you ask them why you see golfers out on the course like the other week, 3 carts 5 people and 1 bag during the late afternoon ....yes they all paid to play!!!!! Casper is here only for the money not the residents

Anonymous said...

Speaking of golfing, who do we contact when we find resident golfer playing after 6pm, and has not paid. Just asking. One of my neighbirs plays everyday, after the pro shop closes, and is bragging that he plays for free. Nit very fair

Anonymous said...

Call the pro shop with their name and address and I'm sure it will be taken care of through the office.

Anonymous said...

there is no one in the pro shop at that time....take a pic of them....call our golf comm. chair person and let them go out after them

Call the pro shop during hours and let them know who it is and what holes they normally play. I have done this before and have seen them respond, yes they are understaffed but if you tell them what to look for then they will take care of it
