               ''WALKING AFTER MIDNIGHT !''
Some residents may remember the hit record from the 1950;s titled ''WALKING AFTER MIDNIGHT''.The subject of this post is not what Patsy Cline was singing about.
On Friday morning this week, I received a call from one of the ladies, in the front office.A new resident had stopped by the office to discuss strange people, walking down Pebble Beach, at odd hours of the night. I asked the office to get me a phone number, and tell them that I would contact them I received the phone number and made contact with the residents, I was told the following,---Between the hours of 1AM and 3AM, young couples [est age late teens and 20;s] are seen walking down Pebble Beach in the direction of the Tavern. This has occurred numerous times.
Folks,--I can think of no LEGITIMATE or logical reason for this !
WHO and WHY ?
In the past, Fairways Watch has asked and received extra patrols ,with both marked and unmarked cars from our friends at OCSO Sector 2.--It may be time to do this again. Our resident deputy,Tod Owens is great to help us watch in the early morning hours, when he is returning from work.
The long term answer to the problem is not both residents, and the sheriff, playing ''cat and mouse'' with unwanted visitors . The answer is --PUT AN ATTENDANT AT THE GATES--ALL WE DO IS TALK, TALK,TALK
It would seem that our community has some of it s priorities mixed up! We seemed to be more concerned about social festivities and amenity use scheduling ,than we are the BASIC SECURITY ISSUE!
Think about it --which is more important?--- Over a year ago , Mr Braun, president of Hometown America, made a simple non detailed proposal to put an attendant at the gate --ON A 90 DAY FREE TRIAL BASIS. All that become of his proposal was just a little more ''LIP SERVICE''
Several months ago, a committee was formed to discuss many resident concerns and issues in the park. The security portion of the agenda has not been discussed to this day.
As you may note, in another post below, we had a burglary on spyglass. Was there any connection between the ''after mid night walkers'' and the stolen goods? ---THINK ABOUT IT!
May God bless our good friends at OCSO, Sector 2--keep them safe, while the keep us safe.

We are looking into a security company for a manned gate 24/7 as to what they provide and costs to all the residents.

This would cause an increase in the total paid to HTA in Rent as it would be a user fee ontop of what is paid now.

As we get more info, more details will be released so watch the Bulletin boards for details.

Why don't we just use Steve Braun's proposal for a free 90 day trial on a gate attendant? No one here would have a problem with FREE..........it seems like a no brainer to me......FREE....... Here we are wasting time looking for good prices where we could have had someone here.... Drugs, burglaries and strangers walking among us 24/7....need I say more?

Good suggestion PA Gal, let's see what happens with the 90 day FREE trial. I am all for security, but I see some downfalls in a 24 hour security guard at the gate. The Free trial would let us ALL know the advantages and the disadvantages of a Guard. I personaly do not see any reason for a guard 24/7 but thats just me.I think nighttime hours would be great. But would still like to run the free trial, and see if there are any repurcussions. Like delayed entry, traffic back up on 50, etc. But we shall see. After the free trial, a lot would depend on the cost to the residents per month. Many are having a difficult time making it now..

"As we get more info and details"? Are you kidding? We have more details on this issue than the National Archives. It's time to stop making excuses and act on this subject! Well put Bill.

I am not sure about who you are referring to. The convicted felon [pictured on this blog] was evicted on May 22. My eagle article was written May 12. Rest assured, if the subject felon returns, he will be immediately arrested! He has been so warned, in no uncertain terms by the Orange County Sheriff s Office. I hope this answers your Question
