FACT VS RUMORS

The past Tuesday, Fairways Watch received notice of 3 sheriffs units [light bars on] at an address on Firestone St.We went to the location and watched from behind the patrol units. It became apparent that this was a private matter, with no ''call for service'' notice posted. After we left, the ''Rumors'' started.
The Emails posted below should give the true facts. As it can be noted below ,I  went to Captain Brett Meade commander of Sector 2, O.C.S.O. for answers.

Subject: A REQUEST

GOOD MORNING SIR
I have a simple question regarding a'' call for service''. this past Tuesday at aprox 12 noon, at 14581 Firestone St.  I have reason to believe that the 3 units responded to a domestic, medical situation. I know full well that domestic calls are not for public record[ as they should not be].
However the'' ole rumor mill'', has started up, reporting that there was an aggravated assault committed, handcuffs and a resident being jailed.. I find nothing to validate the rumor. I have residents ,again raising issues about their safety.
Without names or details can you help me debunk the rumor?
Dont forget sir the new Cheddars will be opening soon. We can have a nice lunch and solve ALMOST all of the problems of East Orange County.
Channel 9 says you folks have been keeping busy!

ALL THE BEST TO YOU AND YOUR GOOD TEAM        BILL.

Bill,

I can’t give you any information regarding the call.  There was a call at that address but there is nothing for the residents to be concerned about and no safety issues for the park residents.

ANOTHER UPDATE ON FIRESTONE ST SEX OFFENDER

HE IS STILL WITH US !
               [picture taken June 19 ---7;15AM]
HERE IS WHAT WE KNOW--On May 14 the registered sex offender, left the Miami-Dade jail and moved, without application or approval into the Fairways. On May 15, he complied with FL. law and re-registered with a new mugshot. Shortly thereafter, he updated drivers license information, as required by law. According to Florida DMV-- his permanent address is 14808 FIRESTONE ST
At the last board meeting, our manager said that a violation notice had been sent. The offender has until June 30 to vacate the Fairways.
It should be pointed out that only a signed court order by a judge, can bring about the forced eviction of a resident. If the offender does not leave voluntarily, then formal eviction proceedings must be filed through the Orange County Clerk Of Courts..
Hometown America would have a strong case for eviction,Per Fl. statute 723.061. --He did not register--he committed and was convicted of a felony crime--he is a threat to the well fare of other residents [that is why sex offenders are required to register ] and last but not least, he is well under the age of 55!
How can we have a ''premier'' community, when we have sex offenders moving in ?
Stay tuned to this blog--we will keep our residents updated, as to when and if legal action is filed, with the clerk of courts.

WE LOVE OUR GOLF CARTS

THE Fairways has over 1100 homes within its perimeter. It would be a good ''guesstimate'' to say that there are probably between 700 and 800 golf carts in the community. Golfers, non-golfers and even the dogs love their carts.
The Fairways is a major sales market for these little pieces of private luxury.Honest dealers and resident owners are not the only ones that recognize this potential. Thieves see the carts as real quick money makers.
Until 2 days ago the Fairways had not had a reported cart theft since December 20, 2010.Then that suddenly changed!
Thankfully both of the reported stolen carts have been ''recovered.''
We would like to give some pointers in buying or selling used carts.
The buyer should always inquire as to a general history of the cart and any known repairs that have been made . The age of most carts can be determined by the manufactures serial number plate. [a very important item] Club Car and EZ Go plates are found in the dash area ,while Yamaha numbers are stamped in the frame. A quick call to a cart dealer can locate and decipher the numbers.
Also another major item is the age of the batteries. A check into Google or a call to a dealer can determine the exact age of the batteries, right down to the month of manufacture.
Another point of interest, is this--Does the cart look freshly painted? If so, WHO painted it and WHERE was the job done?--Many times ,carts that have been stolen, will have nice fresh paint and the serial number plates removed.
The ''recovered'' green cart , had the owners personal name decals removed and the serial number was unreadable!---Pending paint job?
IF YOU SEE SOMETHING--SAY SOMETHIG!

STOLEN GOLF CART UPDATE

                   THEY ARE BACK !
Under VERY  mysterious circumstances, both golf carts, reported stolen, have been returned to their owners. However the case is a long way from being closed. The Orange County Sheriffs office has good information and possible leads.
Rely on Fairways Watch for this unfolding story. If any arrest warrants are issued in the future, it will be posted here. Pictured below is the recovered green cart--Please note that the names Dan & Sandy have been removed,as if someone was planning to REPAINT the unit.

IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU !

RECENTLY, ONE OF OUR RESIDENTS     HAD AN UNFORTUNATE EXPERIENCE !

We would like to share the misfortune of a resident, with the hope that it might prevent a similar occurrence from happening to someone else.
A female resident was on her way to work to a relatively safe, secure area, in East Orange County. She parked her car in her normal parking spot inside a monitored parking garage. As she walked toward the elevator, she was stopped by 3 individuals, inquiring as to the location of a certain office.
One of the three was a well dressed white male, another was an Hispanic male, the third was a young white female. Our resident politely answered their inquiry and proceeded to the garage elevator. The three followed her to the elevator. Once inside the elevator, the well dressed male stood by the control panel while the other 2 stood behind our resident. The resident had some concern by being alone with 3 strangers, but not alarmed.
Upon arriving at the bottom floor ,the 3 strangers went toward the directed building. Every thing seemed like a normal workday until early afternoon. Our lady received a phone call from her credit union. ---THEN ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE---The bank said that there was a lot of suspicious activity on her debit card, and asked if it was ok?  Our resident said no, and immediately grabbed her purse. --YES--her wallet was gone!--with all of her credit, debit cards and drivers license!!
The lady immediately started doing all the proper things---calling, calling and filing police reports with 2 law enforcement agencies.
In a matter of only several hours the thieves had ran up thousands of dollars on the cards,---Walmart,--Best Buy--service stations.
A lot of damage was done very quickly. It has taken a tremendous amount of time and effort to stabilize her financial life.
What can be learned from this misfortune ?---Do not assume that elevators are monitored by cameras--only some are--the one in question was not. It is best to stand in a corner of the elevator with no one behind you.Another tip is for ladies to use a zipped up purse. This victim bought a new purse ,with a good zipper.
IN THIS DAY AND AGE --DO NOT TRUST ANY STRANGERS

'' PUT UP OR SHUT UP ''

THE FOLLOWING  IS A RESPONSE TO A COMMENT FROM THE PREVIOUS POST !
 The comment was as below.

Anonymous said...
Stop complaining and do something about it. In the 60's people would stand together on the front of the park or in front of the office with protest signs......so get off you butts and protest or our entire park is doomed. Are you posting his mug on the boards for all the new buyers to see? Are you handing out a flyer to every new potential buyer? You have to hit them in the pocketbook to make a difference.

First of all, I have a question--How could residents of the 1960,s ''stand together, at the front of the park''?--- Construction on the Fairways did not start until the late 1970,s.
In answer to your second question--YES--His mugshot was posted immediately on all of the blogs and park bulletin boards. [did you not see them?]--- I must admit that the bulletin board posters were removed several times by the''bulletin board police''
The answer to your third question is --NO--I am not handing out flyers to ''every new prospective buyer''--simply because I have no way of knowing who the new buyers may be! Our HOA can not even get a list of current residents, let alone a prospect list.
Your last comment--''HIT THEM IN THE POCKET BOOK"--That movement is already in place! The problem is--The wrong people are getting hit. Its the GOOD RESIDENTS that are taking the punches. We are the ones losing amenities that we are paying for. EXAMPLES---The loss of the restaurant,--[replaced by a hot dog wheel]----no gate security---no pool security--we have lost control of our halls--and last but not least, ---what about all of the unrestrained ''move-ins'', such as the SEX OFFENDER.
Also along the lines of ''HIT THEM IN THE POCKET BOOK''---- Don;t forget that ''stupid-ass'' lawsuit, filed by some greedy residents, against their INNOCENT neighbors!
Please anonymous 8;50,---PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH!

We will be expecting to see you, [anonymous 8:50] ,up at the gate with your sign and pass outs,----SOON!
