WE LOVE OUR GOLF CARTS

THE Fairways has over 1100 homes within its perimeter. It would be a good ''guesstimate'' to say that there are probably between 700 and 800 golf carts in the community. Golfers, non-golfers and even the dogs love their carts.
The Fairways is a major sales market for these little pieces of private luxury.Honest dealers and resident owners are not the only ones that recognize this potential. Thieves see the carts as real quick money makers.
Until 2 days ago the Fairways had not had a reported cart theft since December 20, 2010.Then that suddenly changed!
Thankfully both of the reported stolen carts have been ''recovered.''
We would like to give some pointers in buying or selling used carts.
The buyer should always inquire as to a general history of the cart and any known repairs that have been made . The age of most carts can be determined by the manufactures serial number plate. [a very important item] Club Car and EZ Go plates are found in the dash area ,while Yamaha numbers are stamped in the frame. A quick call to a cart dealer can locate and decipher the numbers.
Also another major item is the age of the batteries. A check into Google or a call to a dealer can determine the exact age of the batteries, right down to the month of manufacture.
Another point of interest, is this--Does the cart look freshly painted? If so, WHO painted it and WHERE was the job done?--Many times ,carts that have been stolen, will have nice fresh paint and the serial number plates removed.
The ''recovered'' green cart , had the owners personal name decals removed and the serial number was unreadable!---Pending paint job?
IF YOU SEE SOMETHING--SAY SOMETHIG!
