IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU !

RECENTLY, ONE OF OUR RESIDENTS     HAD AN UNFORTUNATE EXPERIENCE !

We would like to share the misfortune of a resident, with the hope that it might prevent a similar occurrence from happening to someone else.
A female resident was on her way to work to a relatively safe, secure area, in East Orange County. She parked her car in her normal parking spot inside a monitored parking garage. As she walked toward the elevator, she was stopped by 3 individuals, inquiring as to the location of a certain office.
One of the three was a well dressed white male, another was an Hispanic male, the third was a young white female. Our resident politely answered their inquiry and proceeded to the garage elevator. The three followed her to the elevator. Once inside the elevator, the well dressed male stood by the control panel while the other 2 stood behind our resident. The resident had some concern by being alone with 3 strangers, but not alarmed.
Upon arriving at the bottom floor ,the 3 strangers went toward the directed building. Every thing seemed like a normal workday until early afternoon. Our lady received a phone call from her credit union. ---THEN ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE---The bank said that there was a lot of suspicious activity on her debit card, and asked if it was ok?  Our resident said no, and immediately grabbed her purse. --YES--her wallet was gone!--with all of her credit, debit cards and drivers license!!
The lady immediately started doing all the proper things---calling, calling and filing police reports with 2 law enforcement agencies.
In a matter of only several hours the thieves had ran up thousands of dollars on the cards,---Walmart,--Best Buy--service stations.
A lot of damage was done very quickly. It has taken a tremendous amount of time and effort to stabilize her financial life.
What can be learned from this misfortune ?---Do not assume that elevators are monitored by cameras--only some are--the one in question was not. It is best to stand in a corner of the elevator with no one behind you.Another tip is for ladies to use a zipped up purse. This victim bought a new purse ,with a good zipper.
IN THIS DAY AND AGE --DO NOT TRUST ANY STRANGERS
