WORST RAT BURGLARY YET--- BREAKING INTO AN OCCUPIED HOME!

THE ONLY WORD FOR IT IS,--FRIGHTENING!
This happened on the 2200 block of Pebble Beach.

A SENIOR, LONG TIME RESIDENT--- WIDOW LADY, LIVING ALONE!
The victim went To bed at her normal time and slept well. Upon awaking around 8AM this date, she was horrified and shocked at her surroundings. It was immediately apparent that she had been burglarized, in the most bizarre fashion--- and method of entry.
FOR THE FIRST TIME---THE ''RATS'' HAVE BROKEN INTO AN OCCUPIED HOME AND BEDROOM, WITH A SLEEPING PERSON!
The ''scums'' had pulled away a concrete-mesh skirting, in the rear of the home---entered through the broken area, crawled directly under the occupied bedroom, and up through the cold air return.
Once in the home they entered into the occupied bed room ,and removed a jewelry box, purse and box of miscellaneous items.----within 15 ft of the SLEEPING RESIDENT . The thieves then carried the valuables to the far end of the home [living room] and sorted through the contents, removing items of worth. These hoodlums were in the home for more than a few minutes, --all the time, knowing that the resident was sleeping near by! Upon completion of their daring venture,--the BASTARDS  left through the front door,--leaving it wide open!
The lost was considerable, including older jewelry, some cash, credit and debit cards and even a passport!

A QUESTION FOR EVERYONE--- WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED,--IF THE SLEEPING RESIDENT HAD AWAKENED, DURING THIS BURGLARY?

[PLEASE EXCUSE MY POOR FRENCH!]

FOLKS,-- I AM THOROUGHLY ''PISSED'' AND DISGUSTED!--I KNOW THAT ALL OF YOU SHARE MY FEELINGS ABOUT THIS.
WHY NOT COME TO THE BOARD MEETING MONDAY NIGHT MAY 3rd AND SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS. MRS HERRICK IS SCHEDULED TO ATTEND.
WE NEED TO QUIT TALKING ---DAMN IT LETS GET TOGETHER AND DO SOMETHING!

IN REFERENCE TO CRIME STATISTICS --FOR OUR IMMEDIATE AREA,--WE SUBMIT THE OFFICIAL RECORD FROM OCSO FOR A PORTION OF THE MONTH OF APRIL
Our zone 22A is a small portion of zip 32826

Since the resident was there, isn't this also a home invasion. What is the name of the Sheriff's Property Squad investigator that has been assigned to these cases?

Anonymous said...

I'm sure they dusted for fingerprints in all these robberies. I'm sure they didn't wear gloves, if the robbers are as stupid as we think they are.
It's just a matter of time before they are either caught or shot and killed.

Come to my house and get an introduction to my very large caliber friend.

Mrs. Priss could care less if everyone who lives her shows up it doesn't matter to her, it's time for TV to get in her and attend the meeting with her present and hear her answers to this activity and disclose to the public what this TRAILER PARK has become on her watch.

Anonymous said...

Contrary to what you may think 3:15 these people are not as dumb as you think. They've yet to be caught. I'm sure our police friends have dusted for prints.lets hope they get lucky. Still think it's a resident with a very small helper. Sound like anyone you know? I truly believe we should go in force to the office .maybe prissy has the answer to our problems .not!!!!! How those background checks going prissy? Have you look at them lately ? Yuk yuk.

Anonymous said...

They most definitely are dumb. Who in there right mind crawls under people's homes. Idiots that's who. They will get caught, it's only a matter of time. Hopefully it's before someone is seriously injured or killed.

Question: What is HTA doing? Why have they not sent a flyer out to our homes with ways to be safe and to keep our homes safe? What about the folks that don't have computers to get your blog Bill? Don't you think something should be done by HTA to warn these folks and keep them updated on all the excitement around here? How about us getting some type of security, oh wait, this is HTA! And they DO background checks! HA HA HA This place is such a frickin joke! NEW OWNERS BEWARE! I hope that poor woman this happened to is OK, what a shame to be alone and have to worry about this happening. I assume she felt safe here, remember, this is a gated community and they do background checks on ALL residents.....another joke. Oh how I hate this place. Hey, how about a reward for any information on our Rat Burglars? I am sure someone must know something. Oh wait, that costs money, it is not in Prissy's budget.

Anonymous said...

when I rented /bought here I was told that no felons were allowed to live here what happen? should I get a refund

Anonymous said...

They absolute do not do background checks, they just keep the forty dollars .maybe it go's into prissys Christmas fund.

Anonymous said...

I would like to catch the "RAT" and hang him/her by the croch on the street light at the masters for all to see!

Andrew Carpenter said...

Don't underestimate these burglars. They crawl under homes, in the sands, animal droppings and ants. You would think they would be covered in grime by the time they reached the A/C hole. Yet, when they emerge, judging from Bill's pictures, they deposit very little in the way of dirt. Burglars who can pull that trick off, leave no foot prints under the opening, or finger prints, for the cops to find, are far more organized, and likely much smarter than the agreed upon suspect.

But, they have left a good clue that I am sure Property Squad investigators have noticed too.

It appears that some of the folks in the 2200 block of Pebble Beach need to start putting up some surveillance cameras. This is sad that it has come to this but we have to stop this from happening somehow. They have targeted a certain area. And now that an occupied home has been broken into and the measures they took to do so, we have to find a way to protect our residents. This has now become a very serious thing. Please attend the May 3rd meeting and lets find a way to stop this before something even worse happens

WOULD IT HELP FOR THE RESIDENTS TO FORM A ''MEDIA COMMITTEE''? THEIR PURPOSE WOULD BE TO CONTACT THE NEWS DIRECTORS OF THE VARIOUS TV STATIONS AND THE SENTINEL PAPER. THERE IS A NEWS WORTHY STORY HERE!
WITH ALL OF THE VARIED TALENTS AMONG THIS DIVERSE COMMUNITY, SURELY SOMEONE KNOWS HOW TO CONVERSE WITH THE MEDIA. IT MIGHT HELP THIS MESS WE CALL HOME.

Anonymous said...

I LIKE THE IDEAL OF A MEDIA COMMITTEE. I THINK THAT THIS IS DEFINITELY A NEW WORTHY STORY. MAYBE WE CAN DISCUSS THIS AT THE MEETING ON MONDAY. BUT WE HAVE TO MOVE FORWARD RAPIDLY, WE ARE VERY FORTUNATE AS STATED ABOVE TO HAVE VARIED TALENTS AND QUITE A DIVERSITY SO LETS USE IT TO OUR ADVANTAGE.

Anonymous said...

I would hate to think what could have been if this resident woke up and confronted the RATS!!! Do we need a fatality before action is taken......?

Anonymous said...

Mr. Heldreth- could we make a flyer and hand them out on our streets? If you think so, I will contact you personally? I have done this in the past, but now I feel there is a real need. Even include the info about the upcoming meeting.......

Unknown said...

RE 11;25
This is a free country . We all have the freedom of speech. Handing out informative flyers is not a violation of the HTA ''no soliciting rule'' It would only be a informative source of information to help protect our good residents!

Anonymous said...

That media commitee sounds like a good idea.Nothing like the press and the news station to get things shaken .
I'd like to join .how will we go about it?

Randy Muehl said...

Enough is enough... Another burglary happened last night on Warwick Hills. As a lady sat on her front porch, someone went in her screened back room and stole a credit card. I'm not sure if a media committee could get any results or not, but it seems that an organized group contacting the stations, rather than individuals, may get some attention. It would have to be laid out clearly so they know they are our only hope. The facts should be presented to Pricilla and when we get our typical non-action answers, this adds fuel to our fire. At least then we can say she is aware since we don't seem to get any answers from our FHAOI. I would be happy to be a part of this group if there is any interest. Let's hear from others not afraid to speak up. Being quiet and going thru the proper channels has gotten us nowhere. Let's try a different approach before someone gets hurt.

SPECIAL COMMENT
I would like to confirm another burglary in the 1900 block of Warwick Hills Dr.--A senior female resident was on her front porch Sunday evening, when apparently a thief ,entered her home through an unlocked side door. It was reported that a credit card was stolen and later used at the Holiday Inn Express on Colonial Dr. The theft was not reported to OCSO until Monday evening.
On Monday afternoon I contacted Capt Garrison of the sheriff's office and requested the presence of the sector 2 crime prevention officer, for our next HOA meeting next week The Captain responded quickly Our HOA president agreed to this.. Deputy Belmont will be at the meeting to address the residents and answer questions,

Unknown said...

Thank you, Bill, for following up on these invasions.

Anonymous said...

I'm glad to hear we will have police presence. Now we need the media to show up too.
Maybe then Prissy will get off her bonus check and give us the security we deserve and already pay for in this premiere community.

Anonymous said...

I would love to be a part of the media committee. I also have family in public relations that could lend a professional hand and who also is very familiar with the media. good or bad. But I agree with Randy, we should follow the proper protocol and represent ourselves as a group, get the facts straight, present it to our manager, as he stated, then she can't say she is not aware of what is going on our level. Thanks again Mr. Heldreth for all that you do for our community.

No, we'll leave that to your blog Fred.

To anon 932. You have the right to be uninformed

Randy Muehl said...

I'm not suggesting or implying anything, but does anyone remember a group in New York called the "Guardian Angels"? With much frustration with the crime on the subways in their neighborhood and lack of any corrective action being taken by the city, they formed a non-violent patrol themselves to show a visible presence with the berets they wore. Very seldom did any confrontations occur, but the crimes were slowed considerably.People felt safer and in time, the group was commended and embraced by the city itself as a show of people taking non-violent action. Just a thought...

Anonymous said...

I do remember the "Guardian Angels" but don't we already have a volunteer patrol? Sometimes I see a Orange County Police Car driving around with volunteer residence. The problem may be that is 2PM in the afternoon. Do they patrol the fairways area at night? Seems RATS like to come out at night.

Anonymous said...

Anon 1:13, the intent here is to find a feasible way to help protect our residents. The patrol are volunteers in our community who donate their time, do you? Randy, is right in what he is saying. We are just looking for suggestions and ways to be proactive in reducing the fear, and the crime in our community. Maybe you should look into becoming a volunteer patrol and take the night shift

Anonymous said...

Just asking about the patrol we have in place...No need to get nasty.. I thought that is what he was suggesting, a volunteer patrol... I guess I misunderstood... we are all looking for input, but negative comments doesn't help anyone.... Thank you

Randy Muehl said...

You are correct, Ann. 2:08 We are looking for imput and reaction to a volunteer group. I and a couple of others,do our own night patrols as the visible Community patrol van is very random and during daytime hours. I commend them for doing what they do but, like Bill, can't be everywhere at all times. I am all for a "uniformed" type of group that is noticed and can be flagged down if necessary to share any information in real time. It would also ease some fears that at least someone is watching, even in the late hours. It can be as simple as a bright shirt or special light on their cart such as Bill's old security cart had. Maybe this isn't the answer, but lets do SOMETHING! This type of thing I would also help with. Will you?

Anonymous said...

Mrs Priss. will not show for the meeting she will only dance to her own fiddle and no one elses.

Anonymous said...

I am betting she don't show

Anonymous said...

This is really ridiculous. It's become a freeforall at the fairways!
Gone are the days of leaving your things just parked in your driveway, a TV or radio on your screened porch or a BBQ grill in your backyard. Nothing is safe in here!

This place has become so Ghetto in just a matter of weeks.

It's time to remove Prissy from her post. She has done enough damage to our lovely park. I blame her for all the crime, all the lost amenities and that stupid looking structure at the greenbriar.

Anonymous said...

If you don't like what she did to the Greenbriar just wait and see the mess she will make of the Masters everything she does is just like her WORTHLESS, and I agree she is the reason for what we have become!

This is the letter I received back from Priscilla when I addressed the park's security -

Thank you for letting us know about your concerns over the recent crime activity in the Fairways. As a property management company, we cannot assure the safety of all residents living in the community, however we certainly do not like to hear that you feel unsafe.

Recently our Vice President tried to do a little independent research to understand how pervasive of a problem illegal activity is in the area. The best he could find was a September 2014 article in the Orlando Business Journal that ranked Central Florida ZIP codes by crime rate. The study assigned each ZIP code a numerical crime index. A rating of 100 means that you are in a ZIP code that has an average amount of crime; anything above 100 signifies an above average amount of crime, and anything below 100 means the area has a below average amount of crime.

The Fairways ZIP code of 32826 received a crime index of 43, which means that the amount of crime in the area is significantly below average. The ZIP code was ranked 74 out of 91 meaning that only 17 ZIP codes had less reported crime. This is just a snapshot of data and it is not something that we would hang our hat on. I just wanted to share some of what I was able to find about the issue that you raised.

We try to stay on top of all unauthorized occupants. Unfortunately the legal process can be lengthy since we do not own the homes. If you know of an occupant such as a renter that is not authorized, please let us know immediately, so we can proceed if warranted.

We are working hard this year to make substantial improvements at the Fairways and the most important way to improve our community is through communication.

BS zip code 32826 is not sector 22A which is our area in other words SHE and HTA intend to do nothing as usual for us their paychecks we are still left to fend for our seves like all of the wild ferrel cats that they also allow to reside here as do the "UN CHECKED INDIVIDUALS" that make us THEIR PAWNS !!! Nothing will get done as usual folks NOTHING is her answer.

Anonymous said...

No need for a meeting the answer has come down nothing is going to change it's time for the board to LAWYER UP and Call all of the TV stations we are on our own and they could care less as she said "WE CANNOT INSURE THE SAFETY OF INDIVIDUALS LIVING IN THE COMMUNITY" And they don't like to hear that we feel that way, BULL S%$T.

Pissed off and pissed on said...

They do not own the homes that are in question, but they do manage the property that they sit on for the group that does own it what is the difference I see none.It does take time to get legal matters resolved so lets get started now MRS PRISS.

Anonymous said...

Everytime a security issue comes up, its always the same ole answer from her. It's not their responsibility. I have a question, What is their repsonsiblity? I'll tell you what it is...its writing up the good residents for a power washing their houses and collecting ren the checks.
The FAHOI should hire a lawyer to sue HTA for failure to provide adequate security in this premiere community.

Unknown said...

72% of statistics are made up on the spot.

yep, i made that up.

zip codes and "crime indexes" do NOT accurately portray one single thing. let's look at the numbers.... that way we don't have to do anything!!!!

Anonymous said...

Mrs Priss.'s letter response quoted that a Vice Pres. found stats from zip 32826 notice the date of that report Sept. 2014 why did he not have the answer he was researching come from the OCSO not some outdated business journal if he was that interested he would have found a up to date answer or had one of his Mineons get him an answer for him it's because he doesn't care either thats why he figured he could pull the wool over our eyes just like he did Mrs Priss's

We have always know that Hometown is not going to make a committment on the security issue. They consider everything a liability. What it will probably take is something happening unfortunately to a resident and sueing Hometown america. I would like to think that we could speak to them the 1000 time and see what the possiblity is again of a security guard at the gate but in this particular case that wouldn't help. It seems to me that the rat may live here. So lets meet and figure out what our next course of action should be. BTY, I have lived here 20 years and I can certainly say the culture of the park has definitely changed.

I received this email from WESH, if the robbery victims are willing to do an interview and the board invites them to our meeting they will be here. Please Ask the victims to Contact them here, wesh2wesh@gmail.com

Hello from WESH 2 News,

Thank you for contacting us about this issue. Please let us know:

1. start & end time of meeting
2. location of meeting
3. can you put us in touch with any of the crime victims, and would they do interviews with us?

Because this is inside of a gated MHP, covering this would be difficult. Residents would have to invite us to the meeting and to their residences. Or they would have to meet us outside of the Fairways Village

thank you
The WESH 2 News Team

Randy Muehl said...

If the victims will come forward and be willing to be interviewed, contact Bill or me. I will be sure the meetings are set up and will coordinate the interviews as well as being there myself.

Anonymous said...

please inform the victims directly if you can so this can happen..We need this..thank you

Randy Muehl said...

Since everyone seems to be "annonymous" that makes it tough. That's the problem around here, nobody will stand up so HTA doesn't think we care or are making things up. Please, give us something to work with. Now is the time or else nothing will change. A small handful of us can't do it by ourselves. We MUST have your help!!

Anonymous said...

Please Bill ask the people that were affected by these breakin's to speak to the news people and the board and remind them that a Deputy will also be at the meeting this WILL be our last chance to prevail on this matter.

Andrew Carpenter said...

It's okay if the victims don't want to go on camera. That's their right. But they should realize that this isn't cable news, it's a real news department with standards so it won't accept innuendo, second-hand, or anonymous stories. It needs first-hand versions.

Thankfully, these victims are not truly anonymous. They let Bill into their homes to take pictures, so he knows who they are.

But, we should support their desire for privacy if it turns out they don't want to face a camera.

One smart person I know has installed two wireless infrared cameras under his home. Another homeowner has a trap so electrifying that it could quickly turn the Rat Burglars to toast.

Supplying electricity to the metal bars covering the air duct is genius. but having a dead rat burglar under your house could be smelly...ha, ha!

They sell small sensors that go right on the air vent at Home Depo for $13, and two come in a pack. they have an off and on switch so you can open to clean the filter. They of course are battery operated. They also have similiar items at Harbor Freight. Purchased mine at Home Depot.
