What a shame. We have a new resident move in to our community and her first impression is that she moved into a community that is not safe, we have thieves among us. Neighbors, you need to watch out for your neighbors. One day it could be you. And when you witness a crime, have the courage to step forward and report what you saw, even if it is one of your own neighbors commiting the crime.

Maybe if the Sheriff's squad sitting in the office parking lot was out patrolling they might have seen something. Oh my, what a proverbial thought!

Our new resident and her family are very concerned now about the safety in our park. She hasn't even moved in yet and has had the unfortunate pleasure of having this happen. Interesting that somebody knew exactly the right time to take this golf cart. Watch out there might be thieves amongst us.

RE ANON 7;01
Please do not confuse the ''squad car'',setting at the front of the park ,with the regular uniform patrol of OCSO and Fairways Watch.
The car you refer to is the ''COPS"" program. This program is entirely separate.

Re 8:39. I would like to add that not only is the cops program separate it is also entirely useless . The car up front just sits and rots away. What a wast of our tax dollars. Someone needs to do something about this.it is not doing the job it was intended for , which takes away any safety advantage for us. Every little bit helps.can anyone do something about this. I know this is a OCSO program may be someone can get in touch with whoever runs this program, and find out what the problem is.we need this car up and running at least twice a day. AM.and PM

I don't think there is enough volunteers to "patrol" the park and Not enough people with a drivers license.

I do know the squad car is working because the last time it was seen was at the Memorial Day parade and the siren was also working. As to who to contact for the COPs Program, here it is;
Brooke Eckenrod (brooke.eckenrod@ocfl.net)
Ofc: (407) 254-7387
Koreen Baker (koreen.baker@ocfl.net)
Ofc: (407) 254-7374
'Vincent.VanNess@ocfl.net'
407-254-7363
All of these people are directly responsible for the COPs Program and would love to hear comments as to how well the program is working for us. Need more names? Just say the word.

If they don't have a drivers lic what good are they to the program. I heard that out of the two people on patrol only one can drive.that makes no s,ence. This started out as a great program.what happen? I've also been told that we got a bunch of new recruit s and then something happen and they all backed out..anyone know anything about this?

I remember Paul Horvat saying that he signed up for the program. I wonder what happened to him following thru with that?

Paul Horvat said...

Come and ask me personally, I will be more than happy to explain why I chose to withdraw from this poorly run Program.

Anonymous said...

Why can't that be changed? If the person running the program is not doing the job as it appears to me he or she is defiantly not what can be done about that?

Paul Horvat said...

The proper people that are responsible for that program need to be made aware. I do not recommend calling them as you have no record your opinion being lodged. If you send them an email they cannot deny that they have received complaints as they have with personal conversations. The email become a matter of Public Record and cannot be hidden, unless of course you are the IRS. Let them know, that's the only way things change.

Why not just tell us on here Paul? Enquiring minds want to know what is so dysfunctional about the COPS program that you felt you had to drop out?

Paul Horvat said...

I would have to mention personal names and that could be libelous.

Re Paul OK. Thank you that is what I'll do.i will not however email Brook. I understand she thinks the program is great. I'm hoping that others will do the same.

If the cop car at the front was parked at different places on different streets, like at the Westchester or at the pro shop and move it around, maybe some of these people would think twice about being in there. I read the comments and wondered why couldn't Paul run it or someone else.

That C.O.P. program seems like ....I cant even think of a good word.
If all they can do.. (2 of them) is call in something and report it..whats the point ? We all know how to do that ....I would hope.
No wonder no one wants to go through all the training and rig a ma roll ...just to be able to drive a car around here....
Just my thought....im sure theres more to it.
