HOLIDAY ADVICE FROM THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE

Orange County Sheriff's Office
Crime Prevention Unit

TO ALL RESIDENTS OF SECTOR 2

As the holidays approach, we would like for everyone to take an active role in being safe for the holiday season. We encourage "If you See Something Say Something."

Take that extra moment to remove all items from site from the interior of your vehicle, LOCK YOUR DOORS! Leave a recycled bag in your vehicle. If you bring it, bag it! Bag any loose items into that recycled bag and take them with you so you are not a victim of crime.

While out and about in the community be aware of your surroundings. If you see something suspicious, call law enforcement. We can be reached at the following numbers 24 hours a day:

911 for an emergency or the Non- Emergency 407-836-4357.

Coordinators, encourage your residents to call law enforcement first then the neighborhood block captain or coordinator.

Let's remove the opportunity of crime from the criminals and have a SAFE holiday season.

Thanks,

DFC Melissa Belmont

Do we still have neighborhood Block Captains, and is there a current list available for the residents?

RE ANON 10;49
YES-- There is a block captains list under web address---just Google ----neighborhoodwatchatfairways----some names could be outdated. Hometown America, refuses to give out any resident information ,as to new residents or residents no longer residing in our community. The block captain format is supplemented by approximately 20 random, volunteer spotters, from various areas of the community.

Why not spread the word looking for Block Captains. have a meeting and get this program going again. Worth a shot..

In answer to 7:33 at one time we had over 35 block captains. It's always the same people that will see something and say something. I have never been able to figure out what the problem is. Either they don't care or they're afraid .But my question is why bother to say yes then do absolutely nothing. If you can improve on that you need to discuss it with Bill.He very easy to get a hold of and always willing to hear new ideas.

P.S. 7:33 the program never stopped because of Bill and a hand full of faithful block captain we keep it going.
